City Maintenance Worker

The Kechi Department of Public Works manages the City's water, wastewater and natural gas public utilities, as well as the street department and stormwater management for its 2,000 residents.  The City of Kechi is currently accepting applications for the position of City Maintenance Worker.

The City Maintenance Worker reports to the Director of Public Works (DPW) or the Assistant DPW.  Plumbing or municipal utility experience is preferred but not required.  Annual salary range for the position is $27,641.94 - $41,455.56, commensurate with appropriate experience and qualifications.

The City offers an excellent benefit package, including paid vacation, paid sick leave, health insurance, KPERS retirement and more.  A background check will be conducted.  Pre-employment and regular drug screens are required.  Upon recommendation by the DPW and the City Administrator, the successful candidate will be appointed by the Mayor with City Council's approval.

Law Enforcement Officer

The Kechi Police Department is looking for a motivated individual to fill the position of full-time Police Officer.  State certification is preferred.  However, if needed, basic academy training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center will be provided for the selected candidate.  Annual wage for the position ranges from $32,382.36 –$ 48,571.45. Actual salary depends upon experience and qualifications.

Duties; Enforcing federal, state and local laws and ordinances; working assigned shifts; performing patrols; traffic enforcement; accident investigation; preliminary crime scene investigation; assisting the public as needed.  Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant will be required to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.  Making appearances and testimony in municipal court will be required.  Overtime may occasionally be required.  A generous benefit package is provided by the City: paid holidays; paid sick leave; paid vacation; health insurance; uniforms, and more.

Job Requirements: Must be 21 years of age at when applying; must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; must have a clean criminal record; must pass a written examination; must pass a psychological test; must pass an oral interview; must pass a drug screen; vision must correctable to 20/20.

Applicant must not have any record or reports of Brady/Giglio incidents to be an eligible candidate.
