The City of Kechi has 5 City Council members with staggered 4-year terms so that for every election there are either 3 council members or 2 council members and the mayor on the ballot.

  • Contact the City Clerk at least one week prior to the meeting and written information of the subject matter is required for council packets OR there is a public forum at the start of each meeting where residents can speak to the council.
  • Residents speaking to the council during public forum may voice their concerns on any subject, however the council may not take action of that time, action may be directed to staff or maybe considered at a future meeting.

  • Founding member of the Kechi Park & Tree Board

  • Would like to see more residents involved in all facets of life in Kechi
  • Encourages residents to get involved and keep Kechi a great place to call home

      • Retired Director of Off Duty Education Programs at various bases for the United State Air Force
      • Born and raised in Larnerd, KS
      • Spent three years in the United States Army
      • Graduated from Emporia State University with Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling
      • Taught in Emporia Public Schools for two years
      • Spend seven years on the Navajo Reservation teaching, coaching, and counseling
      • Worked with the Department of Defense
      • Married wife, Sandra Ford, in 1965
      • Has three children and seven grandchildren
      • Feels strongly about economic development to generate revenue rather than depending only on property tax
      • Highly prioritizes maintaining a low property tax for the citizens of Kechi

      • Elected to City Council in 2011
      • North Sedgwick County resident almost all his life
      • Kechi resident since 1998
      • Senior Business Systems Manager for Perfekta Aerospace, a Wichita manufacturer
      • Heights High School graduate
      • Holds certifications in Mechanical Drafting from Central College and Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) from the Association for Operations Management (APICS)
      • Active in the APICS organization and the Midwest Hemophilia Assocation
      • Serves on the Kechi Strategic Planning Committee
      • Married to Carla since 1995
      • Has one young daughter
      • Advocates for careful fiscal control to effectively plan and fund capital improvement needs
      • In pursuit of keeping taxes at the low end of all Sedgwick County cities so as to limit the burden on the taxpayers and to keep the city competitive in attracting businesses and encouraging residential growth

      • Lived at home since 1988
      • Raised in Wichita
      • East High School graduate
      • Has lived in Illinois, Colorado, and West Virginia
      • Received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science / Math at West Virginia University
      • Worked for the Department of Energy in Morgantown, West Virginia for five years
      • Recruited by Boeing who relocated her to Wichita in 1979.
      • Retired after twenty-three years
      • Primary interest is economic development in order to maintain lower property taxes for Kechi residents

        Moved to Kechi in 1980 and has lived here ever since. She was born and raised in Wichita.
      • Graduated from East High School and Wichita State University.  She has her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education.
      • Member of the following Kechi civic groups: Kechi Chamber of Commerce; Kechi Arts & Business Council; Kechi Fair Committee; and the Over 55 Club.
      • Retired school teacher from USD 259.  She was a teacher for 33.5 years.
      • Owner of Geno's Bar B-Q in Kechi. She opened the restaurant with her husband in 1994.
      • She is active in her church and is a volunteer income tax preparer.
      • Proud mother of three children and five grandchildren.  She is a widow, her husband passed in 2012.
      • She is passionate about seeing more people volunteer in the community and support the businesses in Kechi.
      • Other goals include developing the Arts & Business district and supporting lower property taxes.
