SPECIAL KECHI CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Thursday, October 20, 2011  6 PM

Mayor, Robert Jackson called the special meeting of the Kechi City Council to order, the time was 6:00 PM. This meeting was called to for an executive session for non-elected personnel and possible hiring of interim Chief of Police

Council Present: David McConnaughhay, Debbie Jacobs, & Virginia Riemann. Brian Adams was absent.
Kevin Opat entered at 6:25PM

Staff Present: Laura Hill, City Clerk; Steve Symonds, Chief of Police;

Visitors Present:   Naomi Fultz, Rogene Matson, Tommy Jacobs.

I.   CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL

A.   PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Motion by Virginia Riemann to accept the agenda.  Second by Debbie Jacobs.  Motion carried 3-0-0

Motion by Virginia Riemann to go into executive session for discussion of non-elected personnel for one & half hours and to include the Chief of Police and each of the possible interim candidates, one at a time. Second by Debbie Jacobs. Motion carried 3-0-0. The time was 6:05 PM

The three candidates were: Terry Truelove, Donald Vespa & Walter Kuykendall

The council came out of executive session at 7:35 PM

Motion by Virginia Riemann to go back into executive session for twenty minutes for the discussion of non-elected personnel. Second by Debbie Jacobs. Motion carried 4-0-0.    The time was 7:35 PM

Council came out of executive session at 8 PM

Motion by Debbie Jacobs to go into executive session for thirty minutes after a five minute break for the discussion of non-elected personnel. Second by Virginia Riemann.  Motion carried 4-0-0. The time was 8:05 PM

Council came out of executive session at 8:35 PM

Motion by Kevin Opat to hire Walter Kuykendall as the interim Chief of Police at $25.00 per hour beginning October 24th. Second by Virginia Riemann. Motion carried 4-0-0.

Motion by Virginia Riemann to hold a special meeting of the Kechi City Council on Monday October 24^th at 6 PM for the discussion of non-elected personnel. Second by Kevin Opat.  Motion carried 4-0-0.

ADJOURNMENT:

Motion by David McConnaughhay to adjourn. Second by Debbie Jacobs. Motion carried 4-0-0. The time was 8:45 PM
