Kechi Awarded Transportation Project of the Year

For Immediate Release: March 30, 2018

The City of Kechi, Kansas Paving, Inc., and Professional Engineering Consultants, P.A. have been awarded Transportation Project of the Year Award by the American Public Works Association Kansas Chapter for the Tigua Street Improvements. Tigua Street is a frontage road which connects Woodlawn Street to Rock Road. The connection provides safer highway access for visitors, residents, and multiple Kechi businesses. The project was funded primarily by a $2 million grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.

“This project would not have been possible without timely collaboration between all the parties.  The finished product is a testament to the professional output by all involved,” said City Administrator Robert Conger.

Mayor John Speer added, “My congratulations to our hard-working Kechi staff and the team from Professional Engineering Consultants and Kansas Paving on receiving this well-deserved award.”

The Kansas Chapter will present city staff and representatives from Kansas Paving and Professional Engineering Consultants with a plaque at an awards ceremony in May in Dodge City, Kansas. The project will also be forwarded on to the National American Public Works Association to compete for a national award.
